McCain’s “Offensive T-Shirt” Reference: TTA’s “I Only Sleep with Democrats”

During tonight’s final Presidential debate, Senator McCain’s mention of an objectionable Democratic campaign T-Shirt was a direct reference to TruthThroughAction.org’s popular “I Only Sleep with Democrats” T-Shirt, which has been for sale online since the release of its first online video, “Blue Balled”, in June. That short political comedy, which portrayed the Republican candidate as the cause of a young man’s failed sexual encounter, caught national attention and the eyes of millions, being featured on Fox News, CNN, The Huffington Post, The O’Reilly Factor and video sharing sites across the web.

Today, as campaign aides prepped the candidate, more than one hundred “I Only Sleep with Democrats” T-Shirts were being distributed on the Hofstra campus. Organization volunteers said that “I Only Sleep with Democrats” clad co-eds could be seen roaming around the debate venue and amongst arriving McCain staffers.

“We’ve been focused on supporting Senator Obama through our innovative use of online video,” said Josh Sugarman, TTA’s creative director and the director of its recent films, “but if our t-shirts contributed at all to Senator McCain’s erratic and panicky performance tonight we’re happy to have played an unanticipated role in this pivotal election.”

The organization recently released its second political film, American Centurion, and will be screening it at an event at Marquee in Manhattan (289 Tenth Ave.) on Thursday, October 23rd.
